Today’s numbers 8/8/12

O.K. just a note its been a few days since I last posted numbers.  The reason being?  It’s been a weird few days as I have been adjusting my dosage, and tweeking my diet. Consequently, my numbers have been a little all over the place i.e. high of 207 and several readings below 70.  However, the good news is I think I’ve got it now. So here are today’s numbers.

5:21 a.m.  96 mgdl / 20NPH + 1asp. / 15 gc — 7:59 a.m. 112 mgdl — 12:09 p.m. 108mgdl / 1.5asp / 15 gc — 2:01 p.m. 54 mgdl with mild hypo symptoms / 14 gc — 4:30 p.m. 61 mgdl / 5 gc — 5:20 11NPH + .5 asp. / 15 gc — 7:43 p.m. 121mgdl / 30 blocks walked — 9:54 p.m. 56 mgdl / no hypo symptoms / 15gc /

Interesting numbers.  I still dropped lower than I anticipated on final cycle hopefully the last snack won’t bounce me back up too high by morning however, the last snack was only seven grams sugar, 3 grams starch which should raise blood glucose no higher than 30 mgdl against the now peaking basal dose of NPH. Five grams dietary fiber and 10 grams protein should hold blood glucose steady overnight at roughly 80 mgdl.  I predict fasting number tommorrow morning of 70mgdl to 90mgdl.

Also interesting is in the afternoon I had mild to moderate hypo symptoms with blood glucose levels in mid 50’s and no symptoms in mid 50’s in the evening.  Apparently rapidly falling blood glucose levels precipitate symptoms as much as absolute levels.  The mid-afternoon measurement was taken while bolus dose was peaking, the evening measurement while bolus dose was waning.

About roguediabetic

I am a Type 1 diabetic diagnosed in August of 93 while serving in the United States Marine Corps. After over eighteen years of poor blood sugar control and early complications including a left big toe amputation I finally figured out how to control my blood sugar. What I finally learned about blood sugar control ultimately had little to do with what I was told.
